Villa Lavin

Mid-August stay. Wanted our own space, away from the town, and this was just right. You will need a car, as there are no shops or bus-stops within easy walking distance. Several food shops to choose from 5-10 min drive away. There is a remote-controlled electric gate to a shaded car-port for the car. Site felt secure. Great pool; consistent depth of about 1.5 m. Water in the pool was warm as the weather was very hot, but it was still refreshing. Four comfortable sunbeds and an umbrella poolside. Small garden with grass and a tree for shade. Garden has screening/trees all the way around, so feels very private. Patio is half covered, half open. There is a table with benches, a small barbeque and an outside stove. We spent a lot of time in the pool and garden, and often ate outdoors. Conservatory with sofas and with screen doors links patio and house. House was very clean and spacious. There are two bedrooms: large double and smaller twin. Comfortable beds. Good cupboard space. Bed linen, indoor towels and pool towels provided. Large living area comprising lounge, dining area and kitchen. Fabulous large sofa. TV. Plenty of electrical sockets. Excellent wifi. Air-conditioning in lounge and bedrooms. Kitchen is well stocked for essential cooking and family meals. Dishwasher, kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer. Two shower-rooms with toilet/bidet, shower and basin each. Plenty of hot water. Hairdryer. Washing machine and laundry basket in the larger shower-room. Iron and ironing board. Vacuum cleaner. Refuse collected from across the road every couple of days (no recycling). You just need to empty the household bins in the trolley bins provided. Mahmut was very responsive ahead of and during our stay. We communicated with him in English via WhatsApp. There is a groundskeeper who lives nearby who takes care of the pool/garden. Groundskeeper does not speak English, but liaises with Mahmut to provide help if needed via a back gate in the garden.

Just some things to be aware of: The bedrooms have an unusual design: a large double room with separate shower-room and an ensuite twin room. There is no door on the ensuite shower-room. The separate shower-room has an open shower, so the room floor needs to be mopped dry after use. Kitchen is possibly missing a few things (e.g. vegetable peeler, toaster), but we easily made do. House is on a crossroads, so need take care when coming in/out of the gate. Road was busier than we expected, particularly in the morning and early evening. Traffic and municipal refuse collection can be heard in the house/garden, but not disruptive. Curtains in the twin room are very light, so you may want to pack two blackout sheets. Never figured out how to lock the conservatory door to the garden, but just locked the conservatory door to the house instead. Some loose fittings in the separate shower-room that probably need to be seen to.
